Very excited to announce that June 8th & 9th, at Collage on Alberta I will be teaching a two day seminar in using sea shells, rock and found objects to build a small grotto shrine. Details to come, but here are some shots to get you thinking!

This measures about 14″ high and about 12″ wide.

Some shots of what we’ll be doing in our class. The first day will be getting the grotto built and shells, found object and other bits & bobs glued and grouted. Day two will be spent painting and learning some techniques that will make the shrine appear to have been brought up out of the ocean – a sort of an Atlantisian relic… !

It’s time to RE-APPLY for the Glean Artist Residency! As you will no doubt remember (actually if you do remember, you need desperately to get out more) last year, I applied and was a ‘runner up’. They had 61 applicants, choose 8 to interview (I was one of the lucky 8) but alas, when they chose the final 5, I was beat out by a LOVELY assemblage artist named Greg Hanson. I’m having coffee with him next week. Turns out he came to my opening – but I’d never met him so I didn’t know… I’m looking forward to meeting him and getting a chance to hear first hand what it was like to have Metro approved access to the holy grail of lost treasures – THE CITY DUMP!

The Glean application is due by the end of the month, so it’s back at it for me. It will take me some time to futz with the cover letter, artist statement and photos required. Wish me luck and I’ll keep you posted~!

I’ve been lucky enough to have been involved in two group shows at Guardino this year, and am pleased to announce that I’ve been given a solo show there starting December 29th. The show will be up all of January in the Feature Area of the gallery (which is to say the western most side of the gallery).

I hope you can join me for the opening. We’ll have a little food, a little laughter, some art and you can help me celebrate reaching a goal and honoring my pledge.
